Suddi organizing committee President Dr. U P Shivanand, received flag from chief minister. This ‘Ratha ‘ will move throughout the Sullia Taluk to give awareness. “Society should fight against Corruption’ Justice Santosh Hegde

      On the eve of " Sullia Habba", the Committee had organized a meet to discuss the‘Corruption and its effects on Society’ at Bellare Government College premises and Justice Santosh Hegde was the chief guest for this programme on Thursday Nov 18.
      This programme was to organized to create awareness among the people about corruption and how one can work to stop this act which is influencing the society.
     Justice Dr. Santosh Kumar Hegde, Lokayuktha of Karnataka, who addressed the gathering on this occasion told that the society should rebel against the corrupt Politicians and officers and should not be invited to any public meets which would embarrass them.
      He then told the students to help him complete his eight months of term left to work to his best in destroying the corruption in the society. He also urged the youngsters to create awareness about the corruption and to call 180042553200/ 080-155320 for any Lokayuktha related help they required.

Conference on Job Opportunities

On the eve of ‘Sullia Habba’, theCommittee had organized a conference on the topic “Job Opportunities” at KVG Engineering college, Sullia.
            G. Shivamurthy, Assistant Director of Employment and Training Department, who addressed the gathering on this occasion, told that the students of rural regions should never step back to participate in the competitive exams which helps them to gain more knowledge. He also urged the students from rural area’s to improve their communication skill and gain more knowledge to get more job opportunities.
Administrator of Central Employment Exchange, Mr. Lokesh Ambekallu  addressed the gathering told that the Central Employment Exchange center is opened in May and students can make the benefit of it by checking the job openings and sending the resume for the required job. He also added that the required details for the students will be updated on the website and those interested can get their names registered.
Ujwal U J, Dr. Vijayananda, Shiv naik Aletti, Prof.Sitharam Kevala, Dr. N. A. Jnanesh, Dr.U P Shivanand and Harish Bantwal were the others present during this occasion.


Conference on Literature

        Nov. 9, On the eve of the Silver Jubilee celebration of ‘Suddi Bidugade’,  the Committee had organized a ‘Literature meet and public discussion’ at K. S. Gowda Education Trust, Ninthikallu.
       The very famous writer Subbaraya Chaakoddi who headed this programme addressed the gathering after the inauguration and told that literature is search of peace and this work is never ending.
      Dr. Vishwanath Badhikana spoke about the topic related to “Janapadha” Literature and told that language is always depended on the place of living and the daily life in the culture of Janapadha.
      A K Himakar, Dr. Prabhakar Shisheela, Dr. Sundar Kenaaje, Dr. U P Shiavanand, K S Gowda, Sheeenappa Gowda, Naveen Kumar K S, k S Gowda, K S Kumaraswamy and many others participated in this programme.

“Effects of Bandh”

         Nov. 2, On the eve of ‘Sullia Habba’, Guthigaru Gram Samithi had organised for a conference on ' Effects on Bandh' at Valalambe Shri Shankapala Subramanya Temple hall.
         The advantages and disadvantages of Bandh and its influence on the common man was discussed during this conference. This programme was headed by Ex Zilla Panchayath member Bharath Mundodi. Addressing the gathering on this occasion he told that bandh creates lots of inconvenience to common man and is always held for the benefit of the politicians.
         Dr. N A Jgnanesh, Principal KVG College of Engineering who also addressed the gathering opined that ‘Bandh’ is always had a negative influence on the public which should not be encouraged.
Ramakrishna Bhat, Head Master of Belallu SDM School,  Gopal Krishna Bhat, President of BMS Riksha Union, Advocate, M Venkappa Gowda & Advocate Surya Narayana Bhat were the others present on this occasion.

Women's Conference

      Oct. 30. On the eve of ‘Sullia Habba’, Women's Conference held in Subramanya KSS College.This was headed by Taluk Kannada Sahithya Parishath President M. Meenakshi Gowda. who addressed the gathering and opined that in this new era, because of her hard work, woman got respected place in the society. To become prominent in society, she should come out of all hurdles. Writer Jayamma Chettimada, Taluk Panchayath member Suvarnini N.S., Lecturer Mangalore University College Dr. Subhashini Srivathsa, Lecturer Puttur St. Philomena College Harinakshi Kevala, Ex. Taluk Panchayath member Vimala Rangayya Spoke during the occasion.  

Educational Meet

    Oct. 15 , On the eve of ‘Sullia Habba’, Educational Meet organized at Lions Seva Sadana. This was headed by Dr. Sukumar Gowda , Head of Makkala Mantapa, Puttur, who addressed the gathering and opined that there should be change in the Education System.
     Suddi organizing committee President Dr. U P Shivanand,  Aranthodu Nehru Memorial College Principle, K.R. Gangadhara, Lions Club President, K. B. Ramachandra, were among those present on the dais during this programme.

Agricultural Conference

    Oct. 25, On the eve of ‘Sullia Habba’, Agricultural Conference organized at APMC. Sullia habba organizing committee along with APMC had  organized a Public Meet and a conference on Agriculture.
APMC President, Jayaprakash Rai  who headed this programme opined that agriculturists need to love their job which would gain respect for them in the society.
     Adressing the gathering he stated that there is need for a farmer not to loose hope in himself and to find solutions to the problems without taking hasty decisions. He also suggested that the farmers should make the best use of the benefits provided by the Government which would yield them a good profit for their hard work. He also told that they can get benefits from the co-operative societies which work with the aim to support the growth of the farmers.
    Nithyananda Mundodi, P B Prabhakar Rai and Gimmy Joseph were a few of them who spoke about various interesting topics related to farming and cultivation during this occasion.

Spiritual and Social Interactive Conference

     Oct. 20, On the eve of Sullia Habba, Suddi Bidugade had organized for a Spiritual and Social Interactive Conference in Sullia.This programme was held at Aranthodu Thekillu Samudhaya Bhavana.
      This was headed by Former Puttur MLA Rambhat Urimajalu, who addressed the gathering and opined that as the financial status has changed in the younger generation there is a positive change in the Society. He also told this has directly influenced in having a good integration with one another in the society. He also advised that there is a need for every body to respect one another with no restrictions of Caste and creed.
Lichard Lasrado of Daiji World spoke about the topic related to ‘Social Society” and Bellare Shivaram Karanth spoke about “Social Interaction and Lifestyle”.
Dr. Narendra Rai Darle, Dr. Bala Subramanya Bhat, Nandharaj Sankesh, Dr. Umaar Beejadha Katte,  P. B. Diwakar Rai, Dr. U P Shivanand, Sadhanandha Adthale, Jayaram Adthale, B K Teertharam, Durga Kumar Nayakar, Ashraf Gundi, Achyuth Atlur were the others who were present during this occasion.
    Topics  like removal of untouchability in temples, removal of barriers like caste and creed in the society, Hindus and Muslims should join hands in removing terrorism and its activities, removal of Political influence in the Social and Spiritual development of the society and many such related  talks were discussed during this conference.

Samskrathikothsava



      Oct. 17, On the eve of celebrating the “Sullia Habba” Samskrathikothsava is organized at Shri Sharadhambha Veedike near Shri Chennakeshava Temple of Sullia. Dr. Hari Prasad Tudiyadkka, Shri Chennakeshava Temple Administrator formally inaugurated this programme by lighting the lamp.Dr U P Shivanand, N Jayaprakash Rai & Gokul Das were invited as the chief guest for this programme, in which the Kollata, Janapadha Geethe, Film Dance, Janapadha Nruthya were the most prominent. Programmes were also organized for senior citizens and were distributed prizes at the end of the day.

“Suddi Bidugade”, Silver Jubilee Celebration in Sullia, Sullia Habba

Suddi Bidugade is the Leading taluk level news paper which reaches length and breadth of Puttur, Sullia and Belthangady taluk. It is a very famous  newspaper, publishing local events in the Kannada language. It will be celebrating its Silver Jubilee function on November 27-28 in Sullia with many cultural programmes.On the eve of the Silver Jubilee celebration there are many programmes to be conducted throughout the Sullia Taluk.
        The Committee has decided to hold a Educational Meet at Sullia Lions Seva Sadhana on October 15th, Socio- Religious meet on October 20th at Aranthodu Thekkil Samudhaya Bhavana, Agriculturalmeet on October 25th and Sullia APMC Sabhangana, Womens’s meet on October 30th and Subramanya KSS College, a meet on the pro’s and con’s of a Bundh at  Guthigar on November 2nd, Literature meet on November 9th at Padinangaddi, Job meet on November 10th  at KVJ Engineering College, A youth meet is organized on November 13th at Kanakamajala, Health meet on November 16th at KVJ Medical College and the most interesting meet on ‘Corruption and its after effects on Society’ by Dr. Santosh Hegde to be held at Bellare on November 18th and a meet for Hard workers on November on November 20th at Kallugundi. A cultural completion is also organized on October 17th at Shri Sharadhambha Veedike as a part of this programme.
       Shree Ksehthra Dharamadhikari Dr. Veerendra Hegde will be inaugurating this Silver Jubilee Programme on November 27th which will be held for 2 days.
      However, this programme is also accompanied by Krushi Mela, Job Mela, Health Mela, Book Exhibition, Craft Exhibition and many cultural programmes.

Namma Sullia

Sullia, is a taluk in the Dakshina Kannada district of the state of Karnataka, India. It is a small town, surrounded with evergreen wooded mountains in the Western Ghats range in South India. Sullia has plantations of rubber, areca nut, coconut, cashew nut, black pepper and banana. Education centers in Sullia offer a variety of education to students from around the world. The road connecting the two major cities of Karnataka – Mysore and Mangalore – runs through Sullia.
  The culture of Sullia is a blend of Dakshina Kannada with a tinge of Kodagu culture. People speak Arebhase (gowda kannada), Tulu, Kannada, Konkani, Beary and Kodava languages.
     An historical revolution took place during 1837,  when a majority of the Gowdas from Amara Sullia, Madikeri and Bhagamandala went and fought for freedom against British. It was hence named after it as Amara Sullya Dhange.
    Suddi Bidugade is the local weekly newspaper, publishing local events in the Kannada language.
